A Mission of Selfless Service

Love more and more people. Love them more and more intensely. Transform the love into service, transform the service into worship. That is the highest spiritual practice.
- Sri Sathya Sai Baba, July 18. 1989

According to Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the best way to express love for God is to “Love all, Serve all.” The primary goal of the Sri Sathya Sai Organization is to help us realize our inherent divinity and embody divine love, through the spiritual practice of selfless service. Sri Sathya Sai Baba emphasizes that the quality of service is more significant than its quantity. When we engage in service, we should perceive it as an act of service to God Himself. This is why He teaches that “Service to man is service to God.” Such service helps us recognize that “service is performed by God, to God, and for God.” The person serving, the recipient of the service, and the act of service are all interconnected and divine.

The Sri Sathya Sai International Organization’s major areas of service are: Healthcare, Educare (character education), Sociocare (various areas of social wellbeing such as food and shelter), Envirocare, and Humanitarian Relief.

Service activities across Sri Sathya Sai centers and regions encompass a wide range of efforts. Among others: distributing food, clothing, and school supplies to the needy; constructing and repairing homes and community facilities; visiting elderly care homes, prisons, and rehabilitation centers; mentoring underprivileged students; and providing humanitarian aid to those affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes. Many centers and groups maintain food banks to consistently support impoverished families. Children and youth also actively participate in these service initiatives.

These community service endeavors have garnered recognition and awards from local and national government agencies in several countries.

Similarly, the Sathya Sai ideal of healthcare platform revolves around providing universal, free, compassionate, comprehensive, and preventive healthcare. These five core principles guide all aspects of service to the sick within the medical wing of the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization. This healthcare service is conducted quietly, without seeking attention, and with utmost humility. Through medical camps, clinics, and hospitals, they offer thorough, free, and compassionate healthcare to all who can benefit from it.

Detailed information about our various service areas can be found in the programs section.
